Once things got cooking, we were not disappointed. By the time we were done with our errands, the soup and the ingredients had arrived. Luckily there were no spills en route (that I'm aware of). There were little bowls in which to carry each sauce selection. Again, not much elbow room along the way, with stop-and-go, weaving-through traffic of patrons, servers and bussers. I thought that a bit strange (i.e., why don't they just bring us whatever sauces we request? why not place the sauces somewhere more central?) My eldest child and I took two trips to bring back some sauces. That was around the time when my wife told me about the sauce station to the far corner. In our case, we needed neither one the kids were too busy taking it all in, figuring out what they wanted in the hot pot. It didn't bother me, but there was no separate kids menu, nor we were offered crayons with a sheet of activities for the kids to doodle. There wasn't a lot of elbow room along the way. Fortunately our number was called before either of my kids did anything resembling a meltdown. I do not seem to recall any kids besides the ones in our party. The volume level was unobstrusive, easy to miss in a good way. The music that played over the loudspeaker was patently non-ethnic and current enough to vaguely target X-ers and millennials. My impression of its atmosphere upon arrival: clean, chic, modern, organized. My kids were getting a bit antsy on the waiting bench as more guests milled in behind us, filling the vestibule from wall to wall. We were advised the wait would be 15 minutes, and were given a small ticket with a number (not a pager). So we aimed to beat the crowd by arriving before 5:30pm. Called for reservations no dice, bookings are only for parties of 6 and up. So it finally occurred to us to try out this place. Asian cuisine that could be guaranteed to be made allergen free? Problem solved. So how is it we never thought of going to a hot pot place before? When dining at a hot pot place, the diners control what gets added to the soup base. We've had experiences where we've ordered something that was supposed to have no shrimp, even after double-checking with server staff, only to discover recognizable pieces of shrimp in it, for example. Although we love Asian cuisine (it's in our culture and upbringing), we shy away from most Asian restaurants because, sadly, our experience has found them unreliable.

We are a family of four with 2 kids, one of whom has severe fish and seafood allergies. If you don't mind cooking your own food, give his a try. Overall, it something different to try, it was good but I ill skip the additional food the next time since the lunch special and had plenty of left over. There is also a spice/sauce station that you can make your own dipping sauce for your food.

The waiter brought the broth, turn the desk top stove on and once the broths are hot, they brought the platters out and you just drop what you want to eat into the brother and take them out when they are done to eat.

You have the option to order the regular broth or spicy so we ordered 1/2 and 1/2 since I like my food spicy.

It came with a variety of meat, fish balls, vegetables and you can order additional items fro additional charges (we added cage free chicken and meatballs for $3 each not realizing how much food came with the basic special). The menu was a little confusing so I asked the waiter to help out and then decided to order the lunch special with rib eyes and one with sirloin steak and noodles for around $12. Went there for lunch and it wasn't that crowed and we were seated right away. Never had hot pot before so decided to try them out.
